GRAMBLING, La.  –  Kentucky State will face former conference rival Grambling State for the first time in 72 years when the teams meet Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. ET at Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium.
 
SERIES AT GLANCE
Saturday's contest marks the third all-time meeting between the programs and the first since 1953, when both schools competed in the Midwest Athletic Association. Grambling State leads the series 2-0.
 
NATIONAL LEADER
Junior wide receiver Darius Cyprian makes his return to the Bayou as the nation's top big-play threat, leading all HBCUs with 229 receiving yards. He also posted a national-best 106 yards on just three receptions in Kentucky State's matchup with Albany State on Sept. 6.
 
HUGGINS RETURNS HOME
Head Coach Felton Huggins Jr., now in his third season leading the Thorobreds, will serve as a head coach in his home state of Louisiana for the first time on Saturday.
FROM THE STABLE
Kentucky State moved to 1-1 on the season following a 49-21 setback to Albany State on Sept. 6. Despite the loss, Darius Cyprian posted a national-best 106 receiving yards, while the defensive duo of Lawrence McConnell and Kendrick Curry combined for 16 tackles, with McConnell adding an interception.
 
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Grambling is coming off of a 70-0 loss to #1 Ohio State (Sept. 6) that moved them to 1-1 overall on the season. The Tigers have a balanced offensive scheme averaging 163 passing yards and 157 rushing yards per game. On the defensive side, the Tigers have only allowed their opponents and average of 121 rushing yards per game.
