KOHLER, Wisc. — Locked in a heated battle for the team title, Kentucky State and Fayetteville State are tied atop the leaderboard heading into the final round of the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship at Whistling Straits – Irish Course.
After two rounds of play at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, Kentucky State and Fayetteville State are deadlocked at 26-over-par. Fayetteville State posted a strong 304 in round two, narrowly edging Kentucky State's 306 to even the score heading into the final day.
Individually, Kentucky State's
Micah Stangebye continued his stellar performance, carding a second-round 70 thanks to four birdies. He sits at 6-under-par and maintains his position atop the leaderboard as he eyes his second PGA WORKS title.
Robert Johnson also improved in round two, shooting a 2-under-par 70 to remain in sole possession of third place.
Elsewhere for Kentucky State,
Garrison Barton posted an 81 on day two, while
Jean-Marc Chevrotiere finished with an 85.
Cadyn Sava rounded out the Thorobreds' scoring with an 87.
With the championship on the line, Kentucky State will look to make a final push in Wednesday's final round. Sava will lead off for the Thorobreds at 10:45 a.m. CT, while Stangebye tees off at 11:25 a.m. CT on the Whistling Straits – Irish Course, aiming to seal both individual and team titles.
