Kentucky State in Contention After Round One of the SIAC Men’s Golf Championship

PARIS, Ky.  –  Kentucky State Men's Golf sits just seven strokes off the lead after the opening round of the 2025 SIAC Men's Golf Championship, with three Thorobreds finishing inside the top 10 at the Houston Oaks Golf Course. 
 
The Thorobreds posted a team score of 315 in Monday's first round, good for third place, and are currently behind Spring Hill (311) by four strokes and tournament leader Miles (308) by seven.
 
SIAC Player of the Year Micah Stangebye led the way with a 2-over-par 74, placing him in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard.
 
Jean-Marc Chevrotiere and Robert Johnson each carded an 80 and are tied for ninth. Garrison Barton sits just outside the top 10 in a tied -for-11th after shooting an 81.
 
Cadyn Sava posted an 85, while Demar Jones, competing as an individual, rounded out Kentucky State with an 86.
 
Tee times for round two are set to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Paris, Kentucky.
