TAMPA, Fla. – Kentucky State Women's Basketball Head Coach Amani Williams has been selected as a panelist for "So You Want to Be A Coach" program with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in Tampa, Florida.
The program, held this year in Tampa, Florida, during the Women's NCAA Final Four aims to create meaningful partnerships between head coaches and assistant coaches. It's designed for new coaches, starting as young as 18, to learn the skills, mindset, and leadership qualities necessary to excel in coaching. For Coach Williams, this opportunity is especially rewarding. Having attended the event for the past two years as a participant, she now steps into the spotlight as a first-time panelist.
"I'm incredibly honored to be part of this program in a new way," Williams said. "Being on the panel gives me the chance to give back — to share what I've learned throughout my career and help guide young coaches who are just starting their journeys." Williams, who has led Kentucky State's women's basketball team with passion and determination, believes this program fills an important gap for new coaches.
"It's more than X's and O's — it's about leadership, building relationships, and learning how to create a positive culture. I'm excited to help these young coaches find their voice and confidence." Williams' transition from participant to panelist highlights not only her personal growth but also her commitment to uplifting others in the coaching community.
The "So You Want to Be A Coach" event is expected to draw a diverse group of coaches from across the country, creating a space where experience meets ambition. For those lucky enough to learn from Coach Williams, they'll gain insight from a leader who's been in their shoes and now, she's determined to help them find their own paths to success.
