MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Kentucky State men's golf claimed the top spot at the Alabama State Spring Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama, defeating seven Division I opponents, while
Micah Stangebye and
Robert Johnson tied for second individually.
Johnson led the first round with seven birdies to record a two-under-par 70, although he finished the final round with a five-over-par 77 to finish tied for second.
Along with Johnson, Stangebye finished tied for second after opening the first round with a one-over par 73 that included four birdies and a second round two-over-par 74.
In his Kentucky State debut
Ryan Courtney finished tied for 12th with a 77 in both the second and first rounds.
Cadyn Sava was made his impact with a 79 in both rounds to finish tied for 25th and
Garrison Barton rounded out the Thorobreds with a pair of 90's.
Kentucky State will continue play March 10-11 in Savannah, Georgia at the Savannah State Spring Tiger Invitational.
