EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Facing former Division II foe and now Division I program Southern Indiana, Kentucky State fell 93-56 in an exhibition Saturday afternoon.
The Thorobreds were led by 18 points from
Aziel Blackwell and six rebounds from
Gregory Melvin.
Southern Indiana made 14 3-pointers and had four Screaming Eagles score in double figures, led by 20 points from Kaden Brown.
Kentucky State stayed close to Southern Indiana early, pulling within one point of the 14-13 Screaming Eagles lead on a driving layup by
Sean Paige at the 11:12 mark of the first half. At the 7:02 mark, Southern Indiana went on a 12-point run to take a 26-13 lead. A 3-pointer in the final minutes of the first half from Blackwell helped the Thorobreds cut the deficit to 44-27 at halftime.
In the opening minutes of the second half, the Screaming Eagles went on a 10-point run to maintain momentum and defeat the Thorobreds 93-56.

The Thorobreds will resume SIAC play with a pair of road games, beginning at Edward Waters on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and ending at Savannah State on Dec. 6 at 3 p.m.
