EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With Thanksgiving week coming to an end, Kentucky State men's basketball will head to Evansville, Indiana, for an exhibition contest against NCAA Division I opponent Southern Indiana on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 4 p.m.
As a former NCAA Division II member, Southern Indiana renews a familiar matchup with Kentucky State on Saturday in what will be the 24th meeting between the programs. The Screaming Eagles hold a 20-3 advantage in the all-time series and last faced the Thorobreds during the 2015-16 season, earning a 95-68 win.
Southern Indiana enters the matchup at 2-5 after a 64-56 win over Valparaiso on Nov. 26. Ismail Habib leads the Screaming Eagles with 19.3 points per game and is shooting better than 75 percent from the free-throw line. Three others also average double figures — Trey Thomas (11.8), Kaden Brown (11.6) and Cardel Bailey (11.2) — while Tolu Samuels paces USI on the boards with 8.2 rebounds per game.
Kentucky State improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in SIAC play with a 97-86 win over Fort Valley State on Nov. 25.
Sean Paige powered the Thorobreds with a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds, while
Gregory Melvin and
Aziel Blackwell added 21 points apiece in the victory.
