ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Kentucky State men's basketball opens the 2025-26 season on the road in Florida with back-to-back games, visiting Eckerd on Friday, Nov. 14, and Tampa on Saturday, Nov. 15.
Game One at Eckerd
Friday's season opener (Nov. 14) will mark the first game of the year for both Kentucky State and Eckerd. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Fla., with live coverage available on the SSC Digital Network.
Game Two at Tampa
Following the matchup at Eckerd, the Thorobreds will travel to Tampa, Fla., to face the Spartans in their home opener on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 4 p.m. The game will also stream live on the SSC Digital Network.
Roster Mixture of Veterans and Fresh Faces
Kentucky State enters the 2025-26 season with a strong mix of veterans and new faces. Returning leaders
Tayzhean Archuleta,
Aziel Blackwell,
Deavion Scales,
Keon Henderson, and
Gregory Melvin anchor the roster, while newcomers
Terin Wofford,
King Keary,
Dashawn Hall,
Antowon Burton,
Kur Maler,
Stacy Davis, and
Sean Paige are set to make an immediate impact as the Thorobreds begin their new campaign.
SIAC Preseason Honors and Predictions
A pair of Thorobreds earned 2025-26 All-SIAC Preseason honors, with
Aziel Blackwell returning to the first team and
Gregory Melvin earning third-team recognition. Kentucky State was also projected to finish fourth in the SIAC West Division preseason poll.
