TIFFIN, Ohio – Robert Johnson fired rounds of 69 and 70 to sit tied for second after the opening day of the Kyle Ryman Memorial, leading Kentucky State men's golf to seventh place overall at the Mohawk Golf Course.
Johnson carded six birdies in the opening round to post a three-under-par 69 before following with a steady two-under 70 in the second round to finish at five-under heading into Tuesday's final round.
A pair of Thorobreds, Ryan Courtney and
Garrison Barton, are tied for 26th at six-over-par. Courtney opened with a 74 and added a 76 in Round 2, while Barton improved two strokes from his opening 76 to shoot a 74 in the afternoon.
Brady Hensley made the biggest leap of the day, bouncing back from an opening 82 with a second-round 74.
Gonzalo Corzo-Rodriguez rounded out the Kentucky State lineup with rounds of 82 and 81.
The Thorobreds will complete the final day of the Kyle Ryman Memorial tomorrow, Oct. 7th.
