FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State football opens their exciting 2024 season with a home opener to the #18 Virginia Union Panthers on Saturday, August 31st inside Alumni Stadium.  
 
About the Panthers
The Panthers wrapped up the 2023 season with a 10-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the CIAA. They captured the CIAA Football Championship by defeating Fayetteville State 21-10. The conference title secured them a spot in the NCAA playoffs, where they were defeated 38-14 by Kutztown University.
 
From the Stable
Entering his second season as head football coach, Felton Huggins Jr. aims to elevate the program with a newly assembled coaching staff. He added Lee Atkins as the defensive line coach, Marco Sanchez as the defensive backs and special teams coordinator, and twins Lavell and Lavon Meeks to the staff.
 
Early in fall camp, Markell Cotton, Denim Johnson, Mark Flores, and Kerwin Williams Jr. have emerged as team leaders.
