FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State men's basketball celebrates Seniors Josh Cross and Brandon Hill Senior Day with a commanding 98-86 win over the Spring Hill College Badgers.
For the seniors Hill went 8-of-8 at the charity stripe to score 21 points while leading KSU with three steals.
Lavar Miller Jr. led both teams with 24 points and four rebounds. Additionally, Joseph Owens's 14 points, three rebounds, and four assists, along with Ogien Ayo's contribution of 13 points and eight rebounds, played significant roles in securing the 98-86 Senior Day win.
How It Happened
Kentucky State fought early gaining a seven point 26-19 lead on a field goal by Owens near the midway point of the first half. Ayo followed suit scoring on a second chance bucket to give the Thorobreds a 28-21 lead at the 9:34 mark of the first half.
Spring HIll found a three-pointer to tie the game 29-29 with 7:43 remaining in the first half, the badgers tied the game again on another three pointer at 7:01.
The Thorobreds responded going on a scoring run that followed with two made free throws from Hill that gave his team a 51-39 lead at 2:56 in the first. KSU would hold off the Badgers and take the first half 51-42.
Spurts by Spring HIll closed the Badgers on the Thorobreds lead in the second half, but multiple free throws would by KSU would keep them at a distance. As the final two free throws by Miller gave the Thorobreds a 98-83 with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.

Kentucky State will complete the regular season on Monday, Feb. 26 to league opponent Tuskegee at 7:30 p.m. inside the William Exum Center.
