CHICAGO – Naja Fenelon led the Thorobreds with 16 points, and
Shannon Niles added 15, but Kentucky State women's basketball fell 91-56 in an exhibition game against Loyola Chicago on Saturday night at the Joseph J. Gentile Arena.
Loyola had four Ramblers score in the double-figures, which was led by 17 points from Naelle Bernard who made 100% (5-of-6) of her shots at the free-throw line along with going 2-of-3 from the three-point line and 5-of-7 from the field.
The Thorobreds faced shooting challenges, making just 16 of their 64 attempts for a 28.1% field goal percentage. Despite this, they found success inside the paint, where they scored 24 points, accounting for nearly half of their total points.
On defense, Kentucky State recorded five steals and four blocks, with
Jeana Weatherspoon leading on the boards with five rebounds and three steals.
