OWENSBORO, Ky. – A one-under-par, 71 by
Robert Johnson earns an individual tied-for-sixth finish and helps Kentucky State men's golf finish in sixth in the Bill Crabtree Invitational in Owensboro, Kentucky at The Pearl Club.
Amongst a nationally ranked field Kentucky State finished the invitational in sixth place after a first round six-over-par and second round nine-over-par for a 15-over par, 591. Nationally ranked #22 Missouri S&T won the tournament with a team score of 18-under par and #13 Gannon shot a team score of eight-under-par to finish second.
On the front nine a double-bogey on hole one that was followed with a birdie on hole two led to a front nine one-over-par, 37. On hole 10 and 14 he recorded birdies but a bogey on hole 16 would position him back at one-under-par, he finished with a birdie on hole 18 to secure a one-under-par 71 for a three-par tournament finish.
Micah Stangebye improved by two strokes in the final round with an even-par, 70 and a tied for 21st finish.
Maximiliano Dufey also improved in a the final round with a two-over-par 74.
Demar James found trouble in the final round with an 86 and a 16-over par finish for the tournament.
Jean-Marc Chevrotiere shot an 80 in the second and was followed by his teammate
Cadyn Sava shot an 83 to both finish the tournament 20-over par.
