Kentucky State Football Looks to Continue Strong Play at Tuskegee

TUSKEGEE, Ala.  – Kentucky State football looks to continue their success in league on the road against Tuskegee this Saturday, October 19 at 1 p.m. CT in Tuskegee, Alabama.  
 
Series at Glance 
Since 2000 the Golden Tigers hold an 11-2 series lead and in their last meeting (Sept. 9, 2023) Tuskegee came out on top 36-10 in Frankfort. 
 
A Glance at The Golden Tigers 
Tuskegee is entering Saturday's game on three-game win streak all against SIAC opponents. Their streak began with a 27-13 win at Edward Waters (Sept. 29) and followed with a shutout (42-0) against Morehouse and most recently with a 27-17 road win at Lane (Oct. 12). 
 
Running back Johnny Morris leads the Golden Tigers with 280 rushing yards, but against Lane Tuskegee was led by Chase Sellers who rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Raequan Bell threw for 179 yards against Lane as well as leading his team this season with 753 passing yards. On defensive they are led by Kaquan Kimbers who has totaled 43 tackles this season. 
 
From the Stable
At the start of this week the SIAC named Lawrence McConnell as Defensive Player of the Week for his standout performance in the Thorobreds 23-21 win against Benedict. This added to the success the Thorobreds have found mid-season beginning with an exciting 24-20 Homecoming win against Lane (Oct. 5) and most recently with their 23-21 win against Benedict (Oct. 12) 
 
Quarterback Denim Johnson has shown his versatility leading his team in rushing with 241 yards this season along with throwing for 749 yards this season. He has a pair of receivers with over 200 receiving yards this season, the effort is led by 259 yards from Kale Anderson and is followed by 221 yards from Roscoe Parish Jr. McConnell shows why he was named Defensive Player of the Week by leading the Thorobreds with 36 tackles.
