FRANKFORT, Ky. – As
Lavar Miller Jr. (18),
Brandon Hill (17) and
Nick Cross (16) score in the double figures Kentucky State men's basketball defeats Lane 80-72 in Jackson, Tennessee.
With eight shots from the charity stripe and a pair of three points Miller led the Thorobreds with 18 points. Hill followed behind his teammate shooting 5-of-8 from the field and 6-of-7 at the charity stripe to score 17.
Nick Cross shot 100% from the charity stripe and went 5-of-8 field to have a season high night of 16 points.
Joseph Owens grabbed 10 rebounds and tallied six points beside with four assists.
The Kentucky State bench outscored Lane's bench 33-14 and earned their largest lead of 17 at 5:05 in the first half.
Going 3-of-3 at the charity stripe combined with 14 shots from the field six from long range the Thorobreds led the first half 37-25.
Lane went on a six point scoring run at 7:34 second half and ended regulation outscoring the Thorobreds 47-43 in the second half. Kentucky State was able to end the game defeating Lane.
On Saturday, Feb. 3 the Thorobreds will host Lane at 3 p.m. inside the Exum Center.
