FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Kentucky State Thorobreds football team has announced its 2023 schedule, featuring several exciting matchups.
Â
This year the Thorobreds will be under the direction of Head Coach Felton Huggins Jr., and Thorobred Nation has great things instore, "The Thorobred nation can expect a very exciting, fast paced but physical brand of football." Coach Huggins said.Â
Â
Kentucky State will attack the game in three in phases, "We will be playing with tempo, intensity, and passion through our core values in all three phases of the game. From the first kickoff, our team will alwaysÂ
compete at a high level and leave it all on the field. Because we don't take for granted each and every opportunity, we get to put the pads on play this great game. So, it will be some exciting moments here at Alumni stadium this fall. We are just grateful to show everyone the hard work that we have put in not just on the field, but off the field it as well." Said by Coach Huggins.Â
Â
On August 31st, the Kentucky State Thorobreds will kick off their season as well as the entire Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to Clark Atlanta for Frankfort Day at Alumni Stadium in Frankfort, Kentucky. "First, it's an honor for us to host the conference home opener against a high level opponent Clark Atlanta. They are very talented on both sides of the ball, so we don't take any team for granted." Huggins said about opening the season to Clark Atlanta.Â
Â
Coach Huggins is preparing the Thorobreds to fight for the entire game and beyond, "We are going to go out and compete from the opening kickoff, until the final buzzer sounds and let the conference know that we will be a fast and physical ball club, that doesn't train for 4 quarters of play, we train for 5. So it will be an exciting Thursday night of football, and Clark Atlanta is not going to just lay down because it's our home opener. So we must come out and control the things that we can control, and set the tone early for how we want the game to be played start to finish." Coach Huggins said.Â
