Big Plays in Final Moments Secure Win Against Benedict

Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky.  – Big plays in the final moments by Kentucky State women's basketball improved their win streak to after a 82-79 win against Benedict.
 
The Benedict Tigers' bench made a significant impact, contributing 15 points in the first quarter and ultimately outscoring the Thorobreds, leading to a 23-21 advantage for Benedict by the end of the quarter.
 
Taleah Dilworth scored seven points leading to a 9-2 Kentucky State run that followed wit two made free-throws from Nya Caruthers to tie the game 35-35 at 4:31 in the second quarter.
 
Kentucky State kept Benedict scoreless at the end of the second quarter and a layup by Erica Jones led to 44-43 at halftime.
 
A Benedict turnover in the final seconds and a layup by Hilani Cantone extended the Ketucky State 82-79 with just eight seconds remaining in regulation to win the game for the Thorobreds.
 
The Thorobreds were led 19 points from Dilworth who also led her team with four steals and one block.
 
Up Next
Women's basketball will face Northern Kentucky in their final exhibition of the season on Saturday, Dec. 9th at 4:30 p.m. in Highland Hills, Kentucky.
