Kentucky State Women’s Basketball Has Strong Showing in Exhibition at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky State women's basketball puts together a strong showing against SEC opponent Kentucky Wednesday afternoon inside Rupp Arena.

"They (Kentucky State) played fabulous I am super-duper proud of them, for this to be our first exhibition and come out here and give it all. I am proud of them. We don't have entire summer like a division one program has to prepare and for them to just give it their all is important. I'm glad that they did that." Coach Amani Williams said during the post-game press conference.

Senior Gracen Kerr had a phenomenal performance as she led the contest with 23 points and seven assists. In the third quarter she led the quarter with 13 points, " I wanted to get the lead down as much as we can to see if we would be able to win. So I was taken my open shots and kept working to try and score." Kerr said following the game.

How It Happened
Diliworth scored the first points of the game on a layup that followed with a jumper from Mondrea Williams to bring the Thorobreds to within one of the 5-4 Kentucky lead midway way through the first quarter.

Kerr tied the game 9-9 on a layup at 5:13 in the first quarter. Kentucky scored but Nya Caruthers responded with a lay-up to tie the game 11-11 at 4:36 in the first quarter.
