Box Score MEMPHIS – Sydney Thomas hits three-pointer in final seconds to tie the game 53-53 as the Magicians respond in the final moments to win the game 55-53 Monday evening in Memphis, Tennessee.
Taleah Dilworth led Kentucky State with 16 points making nine of her 14 attempts at the charity stripe.
Hilani Cantone scored in the double figures with ten points.
How It Happened
Out the gate Kentucky State made their first three shots from the field led by four points from Cantone and two points from Dilworth to take an early 6-0 first quarter (8:44) lead.
The Thorobreds went 6-of-7 from the field to go on a 5-0 run and lead the Magicians 21-12 with 47 seconds left in the first quarter. LeMoyne-Owen scored the final points of the first quarter to trail Kentucky State 23-14.
Hot shooting continued into the second quarter as a layup by Kerr gave the Thorobreds a double digit 11-point 29-18 lead with 7:45 remaining in the second quarter.
Late in the second quarter the Magicians went a 6-1 run to close on the 33-28 lead with just under one minute remaining in the second quarter. Two made free-throws by Dilworth ended the first half with a 35-28 Kentucky State lead.
LeMoyne-Owen went on a 6-0 run to come to within one of the 35-34 Kentucky State lead with 6:17 remaining in the third quarter. The Magicians would follow with a jumper to take a 38-37 third quarter (3:20) lead.
Naja Fenelon gained the Kentucky State lead back (39-38) on a layup with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter. LeMoyne-Owen jumped ahead by one before a made free-throw by Elder gave the Thorobreds back a 40-39 lead.
A final layup by the Magicians ended the quarter 41-40 in their favor.
The Magicians would jump ahead 47-40 as a three-pointer by Kerr ended the run and brought the Thorobreds to only a four-point deficit at 6:04 in the fourth quarter.

Sydney Thomas tied the game 53-53 with just 8 seconds left in regulation. The Magicians would score on a layup to win the game 55-53.
