Box Score MEMPHIS – Kentucky State men's basketball falls to LeMoyne-Owen 82-76 Monday night in Memphis, Tenn.
Jay Murrell shot well, going 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from the three-point line to lead Kentucky State with 22 points.
Jalon Andrews scored 18 points and tallied two rebounds.
Brandon Hill led the Thorobreds with seven rebounds while scoring 13 points.
Shamon Mosley led his team with five assists.
How It Happened
The Magicians got ahead by five early in the first half as a layup by
Tyson Brooks scored the first points for Kentucky State.
Brandon Hill hit a three-pointer at 17:08 to close on the 5-9 Magician lead 17:08 in the first half.
Andrews scored on a three-pointer and followed with a layup to bring the Thorobreds to within one of the 16-15 LeMoyne-Owen lead with 11:34 remaining in the first half.
The Thorobreds battled, scoring on each of their next three possessions, with Andrews completing the three-point play as Kentucky State trailed the LeMoyne-Owen 27-26 at 7:57 in the first half.
LeMoyne-Owen would control the rest of the first half and go into halftime with a 47-37 lead.
Jalon Andrews scored on a layup to bring the Thorobreds to within one of the 53-52 Magician lead at 13:40 in the second half.
The Thorobreds continued to battle back as
Jay Murrell scored on a jumper to remain within one of the 55-54 LeMoyne-Owen lead.
Late in the second half, LeMoyne-Owen went 7-of-8 from the field to lead the game 75-68 with 3:30 remaining in the half.
Two made free throws by the Magicians secured an 82-76 victory.
