Kentucky State women's basketball will open the weekend at rival Central State on Saturday, January 9, at 1 p.m. and will follow on Monday, January 16, at Miles.
January 3: Kentucky State at Central State
Kentucky State is coming off a 67-51 victory against SIAC opponent Spring Hill.
Laurie Thomas went 8-of-12 from the field to lead the Thorobreds with 16 points, followed by
Hilani Cantone with 10 points.
The Central State Marauders are 6-3 in SIAC play and 7-7 overall. In their last matchup, they met Tuskegee and fell 66-56. A pair of Marauders are averaging in the double figure, Kailyn Nash (16.5 PPG) and Abbigail Peterson (10.5 PPG). Nash also leads her team averaging 8.6 rebounds per game.
Kentucky State won both games during the 2021-22 season in Frankfort (2/12/2022) 80-69 and at Central State (1/27/2022) 82-81.
January 16: Kentucky State at Miles
The Thorobreds will travel to Fairfield, Alabama, following their road contest at Central State.
Miles women's basketball is on a two-game winning streak with back-to-back wins against a pair of SIAC schools, Lane (59-57) and LeMoyne-Owen (84-72), to put them at 6-3 in league play and 9-4 on the season.
Kentucky State has defeated Miles in their last three matchups, 50-46 (3/6/2002), 59-51 (1/17/2022), and 66-58 (2/20/2022).
