SIAC UNVEILS INAUGURAL MAN & WOMAN OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

ATLANTA, Ga. (DATE) - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced the top 3 nominees for the inaugural Man & Woman of the Year Award. 

 

Man and Woman of the Year Award recognizes the top male and top female student-athletes for their athletic, academic, service, and leadership involvement during the 2021-22 academic year.

 "I am elated and proud to say that we are honoring a group of student-athletes that through their hard work and service help move the SIAC brand forward. Each of the top 3 candidates for the man of the year and woman of the year award exemplifies the standards of academic and athletic excellence set forth by the conference and each member institution." - SIAC SWA Association Chair Dr. Linda Bell

 

The selections were modeled after criteria set forth by the NCAA which requires the evaluation of four guidelines including a personal statement, a chart that highlight's the individual's service and leadership activities, academic achievement, and athletic excellence. Each guideline holds a score weight not exceeding 30% with a ranking scale of 1-5.

 

The selection committee of the SIAC Senior Women Administrators Association has selected the top 3 nominees for the award from a pool of 11 student-athletes representing 7 of the 15 member schools in the SIAC.

 

The top three nominees for Woman of the Year are as follows in no particular order:

Glory Seay is a softball student-athlete at Albany State University where she holds a 3.7 GPA as a health and human performance major.

Andrea Wallace, Kentucky State University 

Andrea Wallace is a basketball student-athlete at Kentucky State University where she holds a 3.6 GPA as a business management/marketing major.

India Blakely, Tuskegee University 

India Blakely is a basketball student-athlete at Tuskegee University where she holds a 3.5 GPA as an occupational therapy major.

Lachlan Ross is a baseball student-athlete at Albany State University where he holds a 4.0 GPA as an accounting major.

Zaquan Baldwin, Fort Valley State University

Zaquan Baldwin is a football student-athlete at Fort Valley State University where he holds a 3.9 GPA as a social work major.

Brett Sylve, Kentucky State University

Brett Sylve is a football student-athlete at Kentucky State University where he holds a 3.5 GPA while pursuing his master's in business administration.

 

The SIAC Man and Woman of the Year will officially be announced on June 9, 2022.
