Thorobreds Drop Opening Game of the 2022 College World Series

MONTGOMERY, Al.  –  A high-scoring seventh inning sent the Albany State Golden Rams to a 12-2 victory in the opening game against Kentucky State at the 2022 College World Series in Montgomery, Alabama.
 
Kentucky State put the first points on the board on a single by Antonio Chambers to left field batting his teammate Kelton Saylor in and giving the Thorobreds a 1-0 after three innings.
 
In the fourth and fifth innings, the Golden Rams scored four runs, and a Golden Ram error gave Kentucky State their final run of the contest.
 
Albany State scored eight runs at the bottom of the seventh inning to run the Thorobreds with a 12-2 victory after seven.
 
The Thorobreds earned six hits with two runs and five errors and allowed the Golden Rams to 11 hits and 12 runs with two errors.
 
Up Next
Kentucky State will make a run to get out of the losers bracket and stay in the tournament on May 12th at 5 p.m. CT at the Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama. Tickets are available online, and the game will be streamed live on YouTube.
