Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. – Kentucky State men's basketball win in dramatic fashion in league contest to Lane College 71-68 in Jackson, Tennessee.
Three Thorobreds scored in double figures;
Kong Kong led the Thorobreds with 19 while
Jay Murrell and
Montrell Jacobs scored 11 respectively.
How It Happened
Kentucky State led most of the way in the first half. Threes from
Delvonte McCloud and
Shamon Mosley would highlight a 12-0 run to make the lead 21-11 with 10:50 remaining in the first half.
KSU would extend the lead to as much as 18 before ending the half ahead 43-26.
Lane would close the gap in the second half completely before taking the lead 58-57 with 7:06 left in the game. KSU would retake the lead and the game became a fight to hold on to the small lead going down the stretch.
Lane tied the game at 68 with 11 seconds left. Kentucky State came down and
Jay Murrell in the final seconds hit a game winning layup with the foul with two seconds remaining. He would hit the free throw and a last second heave from Lane was no good as Kentucky State edged out a win 71-68.

Kentucky State will return home to host rival Central State on Saturday, February 12th at 3 p.m. inside the Exum Center. The game will be streamed from the KYSU Athletic Facebook, and NO SPECTATORS will be allowed inside the Exum Center.
