Preview: Women’s Basketball Heads to Allen and Benedict for SIAC Road Trip

COLUMBIA, S. C.  – Kentucky State women's basketball (2-1, 1-1 SIAC) defeated league opponent Edwards 61-53 and will head to Columbia, South Carolina for a pair of SIAC matchups at Allen (3-2, 1-1 SIAC) and Benedict (2-5, 0-2 SIAC).

Scouting the Yellow Jackets 
The Thorobreds will open the road trip to the Allen Yellow Jackets on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. inside the John Hurst Adams Gymnasium. Allen is 3-2 on the season and is split 1-1 in SIAC play. In their first conference match of the season, they defeated LeMoyne-Owen 50-47 and fell at Lane 74-66. 
 
There are two Yellow Jackets to keep an eye on, Keyshuna Fair and Destinee Jamison-Whitfield. Fair leads her team, averaging 11.6 points per game, and her teammate Jamison-Whitfield averages double-digit points per game with 10. 
 
Scouting the Tigers 
For the final game of the road trip, the Thorobreds will meet the Benedict Tigers on Monday, Dec. 5. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the HRC Arena. It has been a rocky start for the Tigers are 2-5 for the season and 0-2 in conference play. Benedict is led by Mahogany Randall, who averages 13.29 points per game.
 
From the Stable 
Kentucky State sits 2-2 on the season start and split 1-1 in SIAC play. In their last time out, they defeated conference opponent Edward Waters 61-53. 
 
Hilani Cantone leads the Thorobreds averaging 13 points per game, 24 rebounds, nine steals, and 14 assists. Three Thorobreds have each tallied four blocks this season Gracen Kerr, Jasmine Elder, and Ja'Nia Thompson.
