FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State women's basketball will host Fort Valley State on Thursday, Dec. 15 and Albany State on Saturday, Thursday Dec. 17. Inside the William Exum Center.  
 
Scouting the Wildcats
The Wildcats enter the contest with a 2-5 overall record and 2-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Fort Valley State split its last two outings with a 54-48 win against LeMoyne-Owen and a 59-57 versus Lane. 
 
Senior Diamond Jones leads the Wildcats averaging 12.40 points per game, and has the third most minutes (170:04). They have a pair of Wildcats that lead their team, averaging just over eight rebounds per game, senior Shekinah Rachel (8.17) and Torri Myers (8.14). Both Rachel and Myers lead their team with five blocks each. Rachel was named Week 5 SIAC Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week.
 
Scouting the Golden Rams
Albany State will meet Central State on Thursday, Dec. 15, before arriving at Kentucky State. As of Dec. 13, the Golden Rams are 4-6 overall and 3-2 in SIAC play. They managed to end their three-game losing streak with a 52-47 win against LeMoyne-Owen on Dec. 5 and will meet the Marauders returning from a 78-41 loss to Georgia Southern. 
 
Senior Ka'Shay Hankerson leads Golden Rams averaging 11.33 points per game. Senior Jaunisha Bell is a player to keep an eye on as she has three double-doubles averaging nine rebounds and 8.89 points per game. Bell also leads her team with 14 steals so far this season.
 
 
 
From the Stable 
After defeating fellow in-state HBCU Simmons College of Kentucky 67-51, the Thorobreds moved to 4-3 overall and remained at 1-2 in SIAC play. 
 
During the 67-51 defeat of Simmons, three Thorobreds scored in the double figures, Hilani Cantone (20), Gracen Kerr (15), and Laurie Thomas (32). 
 
A double-double of 12 points and ten rebounds at Benedict (Dec. 5) and 20 points against Simmons (Dec. 10) earning Week 5 SIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Eastern Kentucky Toy Drive
Spectators are encouraged to bring a new toy for a Christmas Toy Drive for children impacted by floods in Eastern Kentucky.
