FRANKFORT, Ky. – Backed by the cheering of Frankfort's Second Street School students and a double-double of 23 points and ten rebounds by Jalon Andrews propelled Kentucky State men's basketball to a 102-65 victory against the Oakwood Ambassadors.
Kong Kong scored the contest's first points on a fast break lay-up assisted by Jay Murrell to give the Thorobreds a 2-0 lead early in the first half (19:56).
Several Thorobreds got hot during the first half as a good free throw by Kong gave the Thorobreds the largest lead of the half of 25 points, a 61-36 lead late in the first half. In the first half alone, he shot 100 percent from the field (4-of-4), three-point line (2-of-2), and free throw line (1-of-1) to score 14 points alongside his teammate Murrell. Andrews led the pack with 14 points shooting 100 percent (4-of-4) from the charity stripe and 5-of-8 from the field to score 14 points. The trio led Kentucky State to a 61-38 lead going into halftime.
After returning from halftime, Kentucky State would hold on to their momentum as Murrell would hit a lay-up late in the second half, giving his team a 101-65 lead. Murrell went on to score the final points of the contest on a good free throw, giving Kentucky State a 37-point, 102-65 victory against the Oakwood Ambassadors.
Kong completed the night with 16 points and three rebounds. His teammate Murrell tallied 14 points, four assists, and five rebounds. Montrell Jacobs was the final Thorobred to score in the double digits with 12 points.

Jamaal Jackson felt good after today's win, "Winning is always good. We have some things that we need to work on. But to be 1-0, I couldn't ask for anything more." Head Coach Jackson said.

The Thorobreds will travel to Morehead, Kentucky to play Morehead State in their final exhibition of the season, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
