Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kentucky State women's basketball preseason began with an exhibition contest against Division I opponent Western Michigan with a 95-58 loss Tuesday afternoon in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
In the opening quarter, the Broncos outscored the Thorobreds 28-14. Kentucky State led the quarter from the three-point line shooting 66.7% compared to the Broncos 50%.
Hilani Cantone shot 100% from the three-point line and her teammate
Sydney Benning shot 100% from the field.
Andrea Wallace led her team with two rebounds in the first quarter.
A rocky second would give the Broncos a 53-22 lead at the end of the first half.
When the Thorobreds returned from the half, they would keep the Broncos scoreless for five minutes and 11 seconds. " We made some adjustments, we talked about their tendencies during the week. We tried to bother them put a little pressure on them and switch some things, gave them more activity and that's what they did." Head Coach
Terrance Slater said.
Kentucky State would match the Broncos, with both teams scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter. As a team, the Thorobreds would lead the quarter from the field, shooting 69%, nearly 20% better than Western Michigan's 50%. Not only would the Thorobreds lead from the field, but they would also lead from the three-point line, shooting 50% compared to the Bronco's 40%.
Laurie Thomas led her team, shooting 4-5 from the field and a 100% from the three-point line to tally nine points, along with tallying two rebounds alongside her teammate
Andrea Wallace. The Thorobreds would fall to the Broncos 95-58 at the end of regulation.

Laurie Thomas had a really good game 13 and seven rebounds" Slater said.
In her collegiate debut,
Taleah Dilworth would score 11 points and tallied five rebounds." She had a really good showing for her first collegiate game." Slater said.
Wallace would also have a strong performance with one offensive rebound and five defensive rebounds for a total of six.
"We wanted to look at some things put some people in different situations, and we got a chance to see what everybody could do. Our execution got better down the stretch as well. Overall we just wanted to compete and I think we did a pretty solid job at competing in spots during the game and gave us a good baseline on where we need to go from here. " Coach Slater said immediately following the game.

The Thorobreds will travel to Buckhannon, West Virginia to take on West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, November 14th at 2 p.m.
