FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State women's volleyball swept non-conference opponent Bluefield State 3-0 on Saturday afternoon inside Bell Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Thorobreds attained the lead early with a 25-18 first set win. In the second set the Thorobreds would hold the Big Blue to just 16 points and secure a 25-16 win. An exciting third set would follow as the Thorobreds would take the third and final set 25-21 and sweep the Big Blue 3-0.
STAT LEADERS
As a team, Kentucky State dominated the match across the entire stat sheet. They earned a total of 56 points compared to Bluefield's 28. Nearly doubled the amount kills by the Big Blue with 41 kills. The Thorobreds controlled the match with seven blocks, 38 assists, and 46 digs.
Success came in pairs tonight, with
Stasha Adams and
Audi Hicks earning two aces to lead the match outright in aces.Both
Shaska Davis and
Abrielle Jordan led their team, respectively, with seven kills each.
Keyara Brooks showed why she is a conference leader with a big night of 21 assists, her teammate Hicks also had success securing nine assists tonight. Adams led her team with eight digs this match, with her teammate Davis earning six.
UP NEXT
The Thorobreds have a busy week ahead as they travel to play in the SIAC West Cluster, playing a pair of matches on Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9. On the opening day, the Thorobreds will meet Miles College and Spring Hill College. On Saturday, they will close out against Tuskegee and Lemoyne-Owen.
