MOBILE, Ala. - The Kentucky State University Women's Volleyball defeated Miles College, Tuskegee University, and Lemoyne-Owen University at the SIAC Crossover hosted by Spring Hill College.
The Thorobreds opened the cluster with a 3-0 win against the Miles College Bears. The first set was close, with Kentucky State taking a 25-20 win. In the following two sets, the Thorobreds held the Bears to 15 points in each set, winning both 25-14.
Keyara Brooks continued to dominate the court, leading the match with 22 assists. A few Thorobreds led the match in numerous categories,
Robin Poole earned nine kills, and
Stasha Adams secured four aces.
In the final match of Friday's doubleheader, the Thorobreds fell 1-3 to the Spring Hill College Badgers. Brooks success continued into match two, where she dominated another match earning 39 assists. Both
Abrielle Jordan and Poole earned 13 kills, and Adams earned 14 digs.
The Tigers were swept 3-0 (14-25,11-25,15-25) in the third match of the cluster Saturday morning. A couple of Thorobreds led the match in a few categories. Poole secured 12 kills,
Amaya Johnson earned three aces,
Shaska Davis and
Miah Colbert earned two blocks, and Brooks would lead with 13 assists.
The Crossover concluded with another 3-0 (20-25, 14-25, 25-20) sweep of the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians. The Thorobreds continued to dominate the stat sheet, with Davis earning 13 kills and
Elaija Hatley secured 21 assists.
UP NEXT
In a quick road trip to Wilberforce, Ohio, on Friday, October 15, the Thorobreds will face Lane College and Central State University in a doubleheader.
