The Kentucky State University men's basketball team continues its four-game home stand Monday, hosting Spring Hill College 7:30 p.m. Kentucky State is coming off a 86-80 loss to Tuskegee.
HIGH-VOLUME ATTACK: The game features two of the top five scoring offenses in the SIAC. Spring Hill is fourth in the league with 75.9 points and Kentucky State is fifth with 75.0 points. The Thorobreds have scored at least 70 points in 15 of their 21 games, including eclipsing the century mark twice. Kentucky State also sits fourth in the SIAC in field goal percentage, converting 44.5 percent of shots.
Senior
Jordan Little leads the Thorobreds' attack with 15.4 points per game – good for 11th in the SIAC.
Little also sits fifth in the league in field-goal percentage, converting 56.6 percent of his shots.
FROM DOWNTOWN: Kentucky State is second in the SIAC in defensive three-point percentage with 29.6 percent. Offensively, the Thorobreds rank sixth in the SIAC in three-point percentage at 32.2 percent. Junior guard
, Kevin Wharton-Price leads the Thorobreds with 53 three-pointers made (2.5 per game) – good for sixth in the SIAC.
GLASS CLEANERS: Seniors
Jordan Little and
Shaq Athie are amongst the SIAC leaders in rebounding.
Athie is second in the SIAC with 9.1 rebounds per game, with the vast majority coming on the defensive end. He is also second in the SIAC in defensive rebounding averaging 6.8 per game.
Little is fourth in the SIAC with 8.5 rebounds per game and is second in the league in offensive rebounding.
Athie has eclipsed double-digit rebounds seven times this year. He also leads Kentucky State in assists and steals.
SCOUTING THE BADGERS: Spring Hill College enters the contest on a two-game losing streak, both to Central State, after falling to the Marauders Saturday, 86-79.
The Badgers' struggles come on defense, where the team ranks last in scoring defense (87.0 ppg) and field-goal percent defense (48.5 percent). Additionally, the Badgers are second-to-last in the SIAC in scoring margin (-11.0).
Three Badgers –
Chase Shellman (18.7),
Gresyn Rogers (12.6), and
Jordan Mcllwain (10.1) - are averaging double figures in scoring. Shellman is on the verge of averaging a double-double with 9.9 rebounds.
Rogers leads the team with 40 three-pointers made on a team-high 112 attempts, while Christian Brandt has made 38 three pointers on 95 attempts.
