GAME PREVIEW: LeMoyne-Owen College

FRANKFORT, Ky – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team are winners of two straight and look to keep the momentum going through a matchup with LeMoyne-Owen College 1 p.m. Saturday at the William Exum Center.

Kentucky State (7-14, 4-10 SIAC) comes off its most recent 60-43 win against Spring Hill on Monday night behind a strong performance from senior guard Carnethia Brown (Louisvillle, Ky.) .Brown was a sharpshooter in the second half Monday, accounting for 12 of the 'Breds 22 third-quarter points; shooting 4-of-6 from downtown. Forward Erica Jones (South Haven, Miss.) also made her presence felt, as the junior yielded her second double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds.

Senior point guard Amani Williams (Scotch Plains, N.J.) added 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Kentucky State has three players averaging at least 10 points per game led by senior Victoria Blankenship. The Fayetteville, N.C. native leads the team in scoring with 12.1 points per game and has grabbed 6.2 rebounds per game. Brown (11.8 ppg) is second on the team in scoring and leads the sqaud with 44 three-pointers made. Jones is now averaging 11.1 points per game and is first on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Allenia Ponder (Smyrna, Ga.) leads the team with 45 assists and 40 steals.

LeMoyne-Owen College (9-12, 5-8 SIAC) enters the contest coming off their lowest scoring output of the season following a 47-44 loss against Lane College on Monday. The Magicians are now 4-8 on the road and are led by Lamontazia Blair, who averages 15.8 points per game. Gabbie Morgan (12.6 ppg) and Amil Mitchell (10.6 ppg) also average double figures.

Kentucky State is second in the SIAC in three-point field goal percent (.315, 104-of-330), second in defensive rebounding percentage (.697) and third in field goal percentage (.398).

Kentucky State is 11-8 against the Magicians dating back to 2011. The Breds' dropped its first game against LOC 56-55 on the road back in January, but KSU looks to rebound as history favors the 'Breds 6-3 record at home in the recent history.
