GAME PREVIEW: Miles College

KENTUCKY STATE (7-9, 4-5 SIAC) vs MILES (12-3, 7-2 SIAC)

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS: Reigning SIAC champions Miles College enters the contest winners of four straight, sitting second in the West Division of the SIAC. The Golden Bears, coming off their most recent win against Spring Hill, lead the conference in scoring defense (59.5 ppg), scoring margin (+11), rebounding margin (+7.3), and field goal percent defense (39.1 percent).  
MC is also top three in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (38.5 percent), blocked shots (3.8 bpg) and free throws.

Two Golden Bears – Avery Brown (17.1) and Jelani Waston-Gayle (14.3) - are averaging double figures in scoring. Brown, a top five scorer in the SIAC, leads the team in minutes (32.6 mpg), three-point percentage (46.4 percent), assists (41) and steals (25).

Watson-Gayle, who leads the conference in three-pointers made (48), is second on the team making 42.1 percent of his three-point attempts on a team-high 114 shot attempts.
 
PROLIFIC OFFENSE: Kentucky State is third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring offense with 75.7 points per game. The Thorobreds have scored at least 70 points in 12 of their 16 games, including eclipsing the century mark twice. Kentucky State is 0-8 on the year when held to under 75 points.
 
FREE THROWS: Kentucky State is currently 14th in the conference in free throw shooting, converting just 58 percent from the charity stripe.

FROM DOWNTOWN: Kentucky State leads the conference in defensive three-point percentage with 26.8 percent. Miles is currently second in three-point defensive percentage, with a mark of 28.2 percent. The Golden Bears also lead the conference in three-point shooting, making 38.3 percent from beyond the arc.

HITTING THE GLASS: Seniors Jordan Little and Shaq Athie are amongst the SIAC leaders in rebounding. Athie is third with 8.8 rebounds with the vast majority coming on the defensive end as he is second in the SIAC in defensive rebounding. Little is fourth with 8.5 rebounds and is second in the league in offensive rebounding. Athie accounted for a team-high 14 rebounds last game and has eclipsed double-digit rebounds for the seventh time this year.

TAKING CARE OF THE BALL: The two teams are currently ranked seventh (Miles) and 11th (KSU) in the SIAC in assist to turnover ratio.
