The Kentucky State University women's basketball team begins the stretch run of the regular season with its final regular season road game as the Thorobreds travel to rival Central State 1 p.m. Saturday.

THE TEAMS: Kentucky State (11-10 overall, 5-8 SIAC) are in tied for sixth place in the West Division with the Marauders, but are only two games back of second place LeMoyne-Owen.
Central State (8-14 overall, 5-8 SIAC) comes into the game, losers in three of the last nine games, including a 62-60 loss to Spring Hill this past Saturday. The Marauders are second in the SIAC in scoring, but is last in scoring defense.
THE COACHES:
Terrance Slater is in his third season as the head coach, and fifth season with the program. He led Kentucky State to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference semifinals a season ago. He was an assistant the last time KSU advanced to the SIAC title game.
Latonya McDole is in her second season as the interim head coach after stepping into the role in February of 2018. She has been involved with the CSU basketball program for nine seasons. McDole led the Marauders to the SIAC title game last season.
THE LAST MEETING: Three players finished in double figures as the Kentucky State University women's basketball fell in the semifinals of the 2018 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament, 84-75.
Brooke Wallace finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, while
Brittani Rizzi added 14 points.
Chea Taylor came off the bench for 11 points and four rebounds.
THE PLAYERS: Senior
Brooke Wallace is one of four SIAC players averaging a double-double as the forward is scoring 12.8 points and pulling down 10.4 rebounds, both team highs.
Junior
Jessie Kee, the reigning SIAC Newcomer of the Week, is coming off a week in which she averaged 17 points and 13.5 rebounds for the Thorobreds. It helped boost her season average to 11.1 points and 6.3 rebounds.
Sophomore
Erica Jones has missed the last three games, but is second on the team with 11.6 points per contest. Junior
Kiante Butts is second on the team in rebounding with 7.5 boards. She had a string of four consecutive double-doubles snapped in a 12-point, 8-rebound effort in the win over Spring Hill.
Junior
Amani Williams has reached double figures in each of the last three games, and leads the team with 81 assists.
Junior guard Takyra Gilbert is the primary scoring threat for the Marauders, averaging almost 20 points over the last nine games – including a season-high 33 against Salem. Her importance to the team is highlighted by the fact she is averaging 40.3 minutes in those eight contests. She also leads the team with 101 assists.
Seniors Jaeda Davis and Falon Edwards are the other scoring averaging double digits with 12.5 and 10.7 points, respectively. Senior Chervelle Cox is leading the team with 8.5 rebounds.
