Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MBB hits century mark

Four Kentucky State University men's basketball players reached double figures as the Thorobreds put on a lesson in sharing during their 107-80 victory over Campbellsville University-Somerset Tuesday in front of 700 Frankfort Independent School children.

KSU dished out a season-high 30 assists on its 46 baskets (65.2 percent). The 30 assists were 14 more dimes than the previous season high of 16 in the season-opening win over Wilberforce.

Much like a boxer in the early rounds, Kentucky State felt its way through the early part of the game before landing the proverbial body blow with a 14-2 run to close out the first half, that pushed a two-point lead to 14-points going into the locker room. The Tigers shot 0-for-12 with three turnovers over the last 6:37 of the first half.

Not even the breather of halftime could spare Somerset from absorbing more punishment.

Freshman Jalen Fisher (Ypsilanti, Mich.) delivered the knockout blow early in the second half with a personal 7-0 run, pushing the lead to 22. It was lead that wouldn't get below 18 for the rest of the game, and was boosted to as much as 30 in the waning moments.

Senior Jordan Little (Jersey City, N.J.) recorded his third double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Fisher stuffed the stat sheet with a career-high 17 points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds.

Junior Bradlee Lewis (Chicago, Ill.) added 14 points and four rebounds, and graduate guard Shaq Athie (Cincinnati, Ohio) contributed 11 points and five rebounds.

Senior guard Damarri Moore (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dished out a career-high nine assists to go along with six points and three rebounds.

Kentucky State (2-4) snapped a four-game losing streak, and will open Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action 3 p.m. Saturday against SIAC newcomer Savannah State.
