Post Game Interview)
For the majority of the game, the contest was played in a 10-point bubble with neither team having a lead larger than five points. However, the Golden Tigers busted out of said bubble scoring seven straight points midway through the second half to open up a seven-point lead.
However, Kentucky State didn't just go away.
A three pointer and a pair of free throws by senior
Ditalion Battle (Cincinnati, OH) trimmed the deficit to two points. KSU got as close as two points three more times down the stretch, but Tuskegee had an answer every time.
The Thorobreds connected on a season-high 90 percent (18-of-20) from the foul line and shot 43.2 percent (19-of-44) from the floor.
Battle scored 21 of his game-high 24 points in the second half, while senior
Kevin Hayes (Detroit, MI) added 16 points and a team-high four rebounds. Juniors
DeAndre Wynn (Miami, FL) and
Grant Goode (Matawan, NJ) finished with eight points each.
Kentucky State (6-10 overall, 4-5 SIAC) travels to West Division-leading Miles 8:30 p.m. EST Monday.
