FRANKFORT -Â Three players reached double figures for the Kentucky State University women's basketball team, but the Thorobrettes fell to Spring Hill Saturday, 88-71, at the Exum Center in SIAC action.
Senior Brittani Rizzi (Bedford, IN/Lincoln Trail CC) led the way with 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Freshman Erica Jones (South Haven, MS/South Haven) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Jordan Campbell (Montgomery, IL/University of Evansville) tallied 10 points off the bench on 4-of-9 shooting.
Kentucky State got off to a fast start, scoring the first six points of the game. However, Spring Hill came storming back with a 22-4 run to claim a lead they wouldn't surrender.
The Thorobrettes kept the game competitive, getting as close as five, but the Badgers scored 14 straight points to push their advantage to a game-high 24 points.
Kentucky State (7-15 overall, 6-8 SIAC) suffered its third straight loss and has lost four of the last five games. The Thorobrettes travel to Central State, 5:30 p.m. Thursday for another SIAC game.
