Box Score MEMPHIS, TN – Junior Kiante Butts enjoyed her voyage back home as the forward put up career highs as the Kentucky State University women's basketball team picked up their first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory with a 62-39 win over LeMoyne-Owen Monday. Butts (Memphis, TN) was constant force on the glass and offensively with her first double-double of the season. The Memphis product finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in the victory. Additionally, she posted a plus/minus of plus-27, meaning KSU was 27 points better than the Magicians in her 34 minutes on the court.

Kentucky State came out blazing making its first five shots and shooting 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) in the first quarter. The only quarter in which the Thorobreds shot less than 40 percent was the second, and they connected on 36.4 percent (4-of-11) in the stanza.

The 39 points surrendered by the 'Breds are the lowest this season.

KSU blew the game open in the third quarter with a 17-2 run that extended for most of the third quarter.

Three other players reached double figures in the victory, led by senior Brooke Wallace (Oberlin, OH) – who tallied 18 points with seven boards. Junior Jessie Kee (Indianapolis, IN) added 11 points, seven boards and two assists, while sophomore Erica Jones (South Haven, MS) registered 10 points.

Kentucky State (4-5 overall, 1-3 SIAC) steps away from SIAC action with a non-conference game 2 p.m. Saturday, hosting McKendree.
