The Kentucky State University men's basketball team never led in falling to Morehouse Saturday, 90-63, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the William Exum Center.
Seniors
Kevin Hayes (Detroit, MI) and
Ditalion Battle (Cincinnati, OH) combined to score 28 of the team's 63 points. Hayes, who has reached double figures in all 11 games this season, led the way with 15 points. Battle added 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals.
The Thorobreds connected on just 19-of-58 (32.8 percent) from the floor, and just 1-of-23 (4.3 percent) from beyond the arc. Morehouse shot 58.3 percent (35-of-60) from the floor and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from three-point range.
A 9-0 spurt midway through the first half gave the Maroon Tigers its first double-figure lead of the game, and Kentucky State got as close as six points for the rest of the game. The KSU deficit hovered around 20 for the latter part of the second half.
Junior
Grant Goode (Matawan, NJ) finished with nine points, a team-high five rebounds and a team-high three steals.
Kentucky State (4-7 overall, 2-3 SIAC) stays home to host Clark Atlanta 5 p.m. Monday in SIAC action.
