GAME PREVIEW: Morehouse College

The Kentucky State University looks to snap a two-game skid and move over .500 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action for the first time this season when Morehouse University visits the William Exum Center 5 p.m. Saturday.

THE TEAMS: Kentucky State (4-6 overall, 2-2 SIAC) dropped a pair of games at the Joe Machin Tournament in Salem, WV.

Morehouse (7-1 overall, 1-1 SIAC) comes into the game on a three-game winning streak.

THE COACHES: Jamaal Jackson is in his third season at the helm of his alma mater. The Thorobreds are 22-41 under Jackson. Kentucky State has been one of the top scoring teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference under Jackson. He came to KSU following a stint at Bluefield State College, where he led them to increased win totals in every season. The same can be said about his tenure at Stillman, where the Tigers improved upon their win totals.

Grady Brewer is in his 18th season leading the Maroon Tigers men's basketball program. During his 17 years as the Maroon Tigers' head coach, Brewer has compiled a 338-209 record. His record is second only to coach Arthur McAfee, in Morehouse history.

THE PLAYERS: Senior Kevin Hayes has been the team's leading scorer in eight of the team's first 10 games, and is second in the SIAC with 19.8 points per game. Senior guard Ditalion Battle has reached 20 points in each of the last three games to elevate his average 14.3 points. Senior Austin Sherrell has missed the last two games, but is leading the team with 7.2 boards and is third on the team with 9.5 points.

Morehouse has five players averaging double figures, led by Omar Alston – who is averaging a double-double with 14.9 points and 11.0 rebounds. Robert Andrews is second on the team with 11.9 points, followed by Chibueze Ebinum's 11.6 points.

Michael Olmert is scoring 11.0 points and a team-high 65 assists, while James Walker is contributing 10.9 points.
