Box Score DAYTON, OH – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team fell to Division I Wright State University 83-53 Thursday in an exhibition game at the Wright State Nutter Center.
Kentucky State just a good job of containing the Raiders starters in the first half as the WSU starting five combined for just 18 first-half points. However, it was a little used reserve that did the damage. Coming into the game, Anisja Harris had connected on just two three-pointers in 13 attempts. She hit on six in the first half as Wright State built a 20-point lead.
Wright State continued to build on its lead, outscoring KSU in every quarter.
Junior
Jessie Kee (Indianapolis, IN) finished with 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting with four rebounds and three steals before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Sophomore
Khaliah Herbert (Crete, IL) tallied 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. She added four boards and two assists.
Senior
Tara Jefferson (Milwaukee, WI) added nine points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal, while senior
Brooke Wallace (Oberlin, OH) also pulled down five boards.
As a team, Kentucky State shot 33.3 percent (18-of-54) from the floor, and was outrebounded by the bigger Raiders, 56-31.
The Thorobreds return to regular season action 1 p.m. Saturday, hosting Bellarmine University in non-conference action. It will be Community Day with those festivities starting at noon.
