After senior
Ditalion Battle (Cincinnati, OH) hit a three-pointer that tied the game with two minutes remaining, the Dragons scored nine of the final 12 points to secure the victory. All nine of Lane's points came from the free throw line.
Lane built a nine-point lead with back-to-back buckets to start the second half. The Thorobreds got back in the game by taking the ball strong to the basket. They earned and-1 opportunities on four consecutive possessions, the final one, knotting the game at 44.
Senior
David Jelks (Conyers, GA) came up big in the middle portion of the half, scoring eight straight KSU points and on his dunk with 11 minutes remaining – the Thorobreds led by three. However, he would go to the bench soon after with his fourth foul. With Jelks on the bench, the Dragons went on an 11-2 spurt to open up a five-point advantage.
Kentucky State forced three more ties, but couldn't take the lead down the stretch of the second half.
The first half was a back and forth affair until the Dragons had a quick 8-0 spurt, drawing a KSU timeout, and building a seven-point bulge. Whatever the message, it took as the Thorobreds tied the game with seven straight – four coming from sophomore

Lane settled in to take a four-point halftime lead.
Senior
Kevin Hayes (Detroit, MI) led the 'Breds with 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists. He has been the leading scoring in all seven games. Battle added 12 points, four assists and three rebounds.
Two players – Jelks and junior
Grant Goode (Matawan, NJ) – finished with 11 points. It was a season-high point total for Goode, who made his first career start.
Kentucky State (3-4 overall, 1-2 SIAC) concludes a four-game road trip with a 8:30 p.m. EST meeting with Lemoyne Owen Monday.
