The Kentucky State University men's basketball team continues their four-game road swing to kick off Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action by traveling to face Albany State 8:30 p.m. Monday.
GAME NOTES
THE TEAMS: Kentucky State has won back-to-back games, including an 84-61 victory over Fort Valley State Saturday. Senior
Austin Sherrell registered his first double-double of the season with 11 points and a season-high 12 rebounds.
Albany State is coming off a 79-71 victory over Central State Saturday in which three players reached double-digits, including a game-high 29 from Jared Harrington off the bench. Tyrell Williams finished with 12 points and 14 boards.
THE COACHES:
Jamaal Jackson is in his third season at the helm of his alma mater. The Thorobreds are 21-38 under Jackson. Kentucky State has been one of the top scoring teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference under Jackson. He came to KSU following a stint at Bluefield State College, where he led them to increased win totals in every season. The same can be said about his tenure at Stillman, where the Tigers improved upon their win totals.
Patrick Gayle is in his first season as the head coach at Albany State, and is the seventh head coach in school history.
THE PLAYERS: Senior forward
Kevin Hayes has led the team in scoring in all six games this season, and has scored at least 16 points in all of those contests. He is averaging 20.8 points in a season-high 32.6 minutes. Senior guard
Ditalion Battle is the only other player with at least 10 points, dropping in 10.4 points.

Austin Sherrell is leading the team with 7.0 rebounds, coming off a season-high 12 boards against Fort Valley State.
