The Kentucky State women's basketball team embarks on a four-game road swing to start Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action 1 p.m. Saturday, traveling to face Fort Valley State University.
GAME NOTES
THE TEAMS: Kentucky State (3-2) looks for its first true road victory after falling to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday. It was the last of a three game in five day stretch for the Thorobreds. KSU has lost back to back games since opening the year with three victories.
Fort Valley State enters the game looking for its first win of the season after losing the first six games of the season. The Wildcats were picked to finish fifth in the East Division of the SIAC. Through six games, FVSU is being outscored by more than 24 points per game.
THE COACHES:
Terrance Slater is in his third season as the head coach, and fifth season with the program. The Thorobreds are 23-35 in his tenure as a head coach. He led Kentucky State to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference semifinals a season ago. He was an assistant the last time KSU advanced to the SIAC title game.
Ten-year WNBA veteran Le'Coe Willingham is in her second season leading Fort Valley State University. She went to FVSU after serving as an assistant coach at Tennessee State, where under her tutelage, the Tigers were the top defense in the Ohio Valley Conference.
THE PLAYERS: Senior
Brooke Wallace is averaging a double-double with team-leading totals in points (12.0) and rebounds (11.0) for Kentucky State. The 6-1 forward has two double-doubles this season, and has pulled down at least 10 boards in three of the team's five games.
Two other players are scoring in double digits for the Thorobreds as senior
Tara Jefferson and junior
Jessie Kee are scoring 10 points apiece. Sophomore
Erica Jones is on the cusp of double figures with 9.8 points to go along with 7.8 boards.

Khaliah Herbert are distributing a team-high 14 assists.
Junior guard Alicia Franklin has scored at least 10 points in five of FVSU's six games, and is the team's top scorer with 15.3 points per contest. She is leading the team with 75 field attempts, 16 three-pointers, 45 three-point attempts, 24 free throws and 37 free throw attempts. The 16 made three-pointers represent 67 percent of the team's total.
Junior Nola Carter is coming off her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds against West Georgia and is the second leading scoring with 10.2 points.
