WBB Drops Secound Encounter with LeMoyne Owen College

Memphis, Tenn.—Kentucky State University women's basketball dropped its second Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference western division matchup in as many games with a 71-55 loss to LeMoyne Owen College on Saturday night at Johnson Hall.
 
The loss by the Thorobrettes (7-14, 6-7) still keeps them at No. 4 position of the west division standings at 3-4, a full game a head of LOC and Lane College at 2-5. The win by the Lady Magicians (10-9, 7-6) gives them their second win over their last three games.
 
Twelve Thorobrettes saw action on the night as KSU searched for offense through its four quarters of action. As time expired in the second quarter, freshman guard Wynter Webb hit a go-ahead jumper at 33-32 giving the Thorobrettes its only lead of the night and it ended up being short lived with LOC starting the third stanza with a 13-5 run. As the game progressed into the fourth frame, LOC built its lead to as much as 19, keeping the green and gold from mounting a comeback.
 
Senior guard Brittani Rizzi and junior forward Jordan Campbell led the Thorobrettes with nine points. Monday night's contest was the third time this season KSU had a leading scorer not cross into double digits, the previous two coming earlier in the season on the road against the University of Alabama in Huntsville and at home against the University of North Alabama.
 
Along with being a top scorer for KSU, Campbell led the team with 10 rebounds, finishing just one point shy of her second career double-double.
 
KSU returns home to the Capitol City to take on Spring Hill College on Saturday Feb. 3 at the Exum Center, tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm ET.
