Campbell's Career Day Not Enough as WBB Falls on the Road to SHC

Box Score Mobile, Ala.- Kentucky State women's basketball had its three-game win streak come to an end on Saturday in a loss on the road to Spring Hill College, 79-62 at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Thorobrettes (6-12, 6-5) sit behind the Badgers in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division Standings as they're currently the No. 3 seed with a 3-2 record. The Badgers (12-6, 6-3) remain undefeated against west division opponents and are tied atop the standings with Central State University at 4-0.

KSU struggled throughout the afternoon, trailing but double digits through majority of the contest, after falling behind in the first quarter 23-13. The green and gold made a push in the latter part of the third quarter, pulling within eight, 54-46 after a made three-point bucket by freshman guard Wynter Webb with five seconds left in the frame.

In the opening minute of the fourth quarter KSU inched closer at 56-50, but SHC began to pull away shortly after putting together a 20-3 run over the next seven minutes to close the game out.

Junior forward Jordan Campbell scored a career-high 18 points, while recording 36 minutes of action from the bench. The Montgomery, Illinois native went 7-of-13 from the floor, 4-of-6 from the free throw line and pulled down five rebounds in the process. Webb also registered a career-high in points with 16, notching her third game of the season of double-digit scoring.

Head coach Terrance Slater was not present on the bench as he missed the game due to an undisclosed injury. Assistant coach Latear Eason led the Thorobrettes for the first-time in career as the stand-in head coach. Eason, a graduate of Louisiana State University, is in her second season with the KSU program, and served three seasons as an assistant at LeMoyne-Owen College.

KSU will play in its final non-conference game of the season with a trip to Oakland City, Indiana to take on Oakland City University on Tuesday at 7 pm ET.
