Frankfort, Ky. - Kentucky State University, women's basketball, snapped a two-game losing skid in non-conference action against Auburn University-Montgomery, 75-71, on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.

Senior forward Logan Powell recorded her first double-double of the season, netting 17 points and snagging 10 boards in 19 minutes of action for the Thorobrettes. Senior forward Aliyah Gipson tied a season-high 18 points off an impressive 7-of-11 shooting performance and was one rebound shy of a double-double, grabbing nine for KSU.

Gipson and Powell led the Thorobrettes offensively in the first half, combining for 17 points as the home squad shot 15-of-33 from the floor and forced the Warhawks to commit eight turnovers to take a 36-35 advantage into halftime.

AUM fought to keep the game within reach during a back-and-forth third quarter, but KSU was able to extend its lead to 60-55 heading into the final frame, a lead the Thorobrettes wouldn't relinquish.

The Thorobrettes will tip-off against SIAC opponent Lane College at the Exum Center on Monday evening at 5:30 p.m.
