Frankfort, Ky.—Kentucky State University men's basketball picked up its seventh win of the season with an 82-76 defeat of visiting Auburn University Montgomery on Saturday night at the Exum Center.
The Thorobreds (7-11, 5-5) picked up their second victory against a non-conference opponent, and have now won two of their last three games. The Warhawks (5-16) have lost seven of their last eight contest.
KSU controlled the rebounding battle against visiting AUM, outrebounding them by six, 51-45. It marked only the fourth time this season the Thorobreds tied or outrebounded their opponent, and it was the first time this season they did it at the Exum Center.
Senior forward
Julius Barton led KSU in the scoring column, accounting for a game-high 22 points. Fellow senior
Malcolm Smith finished with 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. The double-double was the second of the season for Smith.
In his first start since Dec. 17 senior guard, Micheal Cross made an impact as he grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and accounted for eight points.
Guard
Dorian Jordan added another double-double to his junior campaign, for his fifth of the season, as he notched 14 points and 13 assists.
KSU will welcome in Lane College in SIAC action on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff.
