Frankfort, Ky.—Three players scored better than 20 points, but it wasn't enough for Kentucky State University men's basketball, dropping an 88-82 matchup with Tuskegee University on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.

The Thorobreds (5-10, 5-5) had their three-game win streak snapped, and dropped the first divisional game of the conference schedule. The Golden Tigers (4-12, 3-4) have now won three in a row after starting their season at 1-12.

"Some of our guys weren't serious and aggressive to start the game, and it came back to hurt us," said head coach
Jamaal Jackson. "Our game plan was to come out and press, because we knew they were going to have difficulty getting the ball up the court. The worst thing is when we stuck to our game plan, it worked."

Junior guard
Dorian Jordan created and penetrated the paint throughout the afternoon, accumulating a game-high 26 points while shooting 11-18 from the field, and dished out a team-high eight assists.
Â
Fellow junior guard
Reggie Breeden battled with foul trouble throughout the contest, but still managed a 20 point performance, notching his fourth straight game of 20 points or better.
Â
Senior guard
Malcolm Smith inched closer to a thousand career points, scoring 22 points and snatching six rebounds. Smith will enter Monday's game only five points short of eclipsing the career milestone.
