Rizzi Sits atop National Ranks as WBB Preps to Host Divisional Slate

Frankfort, Ky.—Kentucky State University women's basketball will host Tuskegee University on Saturday, followed by Miles College on Monday, as Thorobrettes look to gain traction in the SIAC West Division.

The Thorobrettes (5-8, 2-4) have won two of their last three contests and are coming off an 84-80 road victory against Clark Atlanta. The last time KSU lost to both TU and MC in the same season was during the 2013-14 season.

KSU features one the nation's leaders in three-point production in junior Brittani Rizzi. The Bedford, Indiana native currently leads NCAA Division II in three-point fields goal made per game at four and is No. 5 in three-point field goals made at 122 over 13 games. She leads KSU with 13.6 points per game and is the only Thorobrette to average double-digit points while playing in all 13 games.

Over the last two weeks, KSU has activated two newcomers in junior guards Rochelle Reece and Nashaye Sutton. Reece, a transfer from the University of Saint Francis, is averaging seven points per game and has added stability to the point guard position, only committing five turnovers in her first three games.

Sutton, a transfer from Alabama A&M, accounted for 11 points in her debut against Clark Atlanta, playing in 22 minutes of action. During her time at A&M she played in 27 games, and averaged six points per game.

Tipoff between the Thorobrettes and the Tigerettes is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and will be a free admission game to all faculty and staff members of KSU. Monday's action against the Lady Golden Bears is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
